Success is a very powerful word. Many people are focused on how to achieve it, and oftentimes, the reasons for wanting it aren’t authentic to us. You should follow your dreams and aspirations, no matter what they are, because that is how you can achieve happiness. So many of us have felt the motivation to achieve what we want, only to lose sight of what matters to us. No matter how your family, significant other, friends and strangers see you, this will not substitute going after what you believe in. We only have one life to live, so it’s very important to do what feels authentic to us, and not to abide by society’s expectations.
It was very hard for me to achieve this mindset at first. But now, after I started my journey to full time travel the world, I can truly realize just how much of a difference it makes. I went through being in the corporate world (which there is nothing wrong with the corporate world, it just is not my dream), to pursuing a passion that meant starting anew. I had to leave my secure job that I had gone to university for behind me, and dive into something unknown. That scared me, but my dreams were more important. So I took the leap, and I haven’t been happier since. That’s not to say it’s been easy — it’s been very scary. I lost the comfortability a 9-5 gave me, and I’ve had to keep myself motivated to stay on track to my goals. But I knew it was worth it, because as comfortable as my job was, there was something missing back then. I had achieved so much, but still — I felt like I wasn’t where I had to be. My relationship with my previous significant sometimes had challenges directly because we were stressed out from work. We were both not doing what we loved, and that impacted our relationship, as well as us individually.
