Nuremberg also known asNürnberg or Nuernberg is a beautiful town in Bavaria, Germany with lots of history and beauty. It’s one of the bigger cities, so there is definitely a lot to do and a lot to see. What brought me to it however, was something more personal. I had the pleasure of hosting an exchange student who is from Germany, and almost fourteen years later - I came to visit him where he is currently living - in Nuremberg! We became really close for the time when he was in the US, to the point where I felt like he was my brother from another mother. So you know already this blog post is going to be filled with positive energy all over, since there aren’t many joys in life that can really compare to meeting a close friend again after a long time.

First off, why should you go there? Are you wondering if you should visit this beautiful city? Well, let me tell you five reasons that might help you make up your mind.
Here are the five reasons why you should visit Nuremberg:
1) Everything is super close
All the attractions in Nuremberg are very close to each other, and you can use the public transportation to get around easily. You can choose from the metro, the tram, busses and everything in between. It doesn’t take more than 10 minutes to get to the city center from anywhere in the city. It also has its own airport, as well as many trains coming in and out of the Hauptbahnhof (German for “main train station”) every single day
2) It's full of history
The Nuremberg trials were hosted there, so it was a central place in the Second World War. It was an important city for the Nazi Party, and there are a lot of remnants of that. During the conflict, the city was 80% destroyed, but it was later rebuilt in a similar architectural style. You can visit many museums that bring light into the historic events that transpired there.
3) Variety of Sports Teams
If you’re a fan of sports, this will be the place for you! They have many events where you can enjoy their teams games while you dive into the atmosphere with the devoted fans. If you visit a sporting event, you will get the world-famous German beer, as well as the traditional food - and not forgetting a good time! There is baseball, ice hockey, football and so much more for you to choose from.
4) The Cuisine
There are a lot of dishes that are typical for this city that are famous all around the world. The first one is the “Drei im Weggla”, which is a bread bun with three small sausages, that you can eat with mustard. It’s very delicious no matter the time of day, so definitely try it out. For those with a sweet tooth, there are the Gingerbread cookies. They are very traditional for the Christmas Markets, but are famous all around the world. The third one is the Scheufele, which is a special way of preparing a pork shoulder. It’s crunchy and delicious, definitely something you want to try out!
5) The Weather
Whenever you decide to go, you can count on nice enjoyable weather. The spring is mild, the summer isn’t too hot, winter isn’t too bad and there isn’t a lot of snow. If it’s cold outside, you can enjoy the lovely Christmas Markets, which are traditional for Germany and will make you feel like you’re in a fairy tale.
