One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited, and an incredibly famous destination, complete with jaw-dropping scenery. It is an ultimate vacation destination, and you’ve probably noticed that photographs of it make very aesthetic screensavers and desktop images. Today, I will tell you more about how to make the most from this fairy tale island, and help you make the most out of your adventure there. The points in this blog post don’t follow any specific ordering, because every single thing has its appeal to some people and not so much to others. I’m confident everyone will find something to fit their preference, so don’t hesitate to read down below!

If you prefer viewing the whole experience first-hand and listening to my tips, my video on the topic will give you just that. You can watch it here:

1) Rent a pontoon boat

$$

This experience doesn’t require you to have a boat license, you can simply rent this vehicle and cruise around the atolls, witnessing all the picturesque scenery around you. The crystal clear water, sandy beaches and greenery will have you feeling like you’re in a Paradise Island. And you’re not that far from it! Check out the drone footage I took while there to see exactly what I mean. You can see the showstopping clips here.

2) Boat Booze & Snorkel Cruise

$$$

Naturally, while you’re on this beautiful island, you’ll probably spend a lot of your time in its crystal clear, icy blue waters. A fun activity that can take this experience to the next level is the booze & snorkel cruise. It’s my humble opinion, that this will be one of the highlights of your whole experience. Not only because you will have a guide who knows the area well and will tell you all about it, but also because you’ve got your whole day planned ahead with this cruise, since it includes many fun activities as well as a lunch with barbecue.

3) Snorkel & Swim With Sharks

$$-$$$

Forget all about Jaws for a minute, because this experience is nothing like the classic horror film. It is an incredible activity, and nothing like I’ve ever seen before, so I’m confident you will find it enjoyable as well. You will be able to dive into the glassy waters and swim with the sharks, as well as the stingrays and other exotic, colorful fish. It’s a surreal experience, and it’s something I think you should definitely not miss out on if you’re vacationing in Bora Bora. It will be a definite highlight in your trip and you can take some out-of-this world photos as well.

4) Road trip around Bora Bora

$-$$

This is something that will allow you to see the whole of the island, witness the view on the lookout points and overall explore everything there is to see in this beautiful place. There are many car rental companies you can choose from, but one thing they have in common is that they aren’t too expensive. You can do this for a full day, or just a couple of hours, but whichever you choose - it is an enjoyable experience, since you get to see many interesting places.

5) Visit the famous Bloody Mary’s Restaurant

$$

This famous restaurant has a lot to offer. From the delicious food, to the pictures of celebrities all around, and of course - the tasty cocktails, it’s one of the best spots for a meal. If you’re in the area, you can expect a lot of tourists, but that doesn’t take away from the experience, since it’s a lovely restaurant with great food.

6) Matira Beach

Free

This is a beautiful public beach, that’s not only famous with the tourists, but also the locals. It’s a delightful place to enjoy a day in the sun - and if you’re hungry, there are restaurants all around. You can also just grab a beer, lay back and relax while basking in the sunlight. The experience is complete with Bora Bora’s signature icy blue waters that feel like a dream.

7) Kayak around the Bungalows

$$

No matter if you’re staying in the famous bungalows or not, the surrounding area is incredible to explore. You have a few options to choose from - you can go with a kayak, a paddle board, or a contraption similar to a bike. You can see a lot of fish, and overall get the incredible feeling of the island. It’s super enjoyable and a nice way to get some physical activity in your vacation time, so if you have the time, I definitely recommend it.

8) Sunset at Matira Beach

Free

I was incredibly lucky to be at this beach at sundown, because I got to see the most beautiful sunset I have ever witnessed in my life. I can’t promise it will be as beautiful as that when you’re there, but nonetheless it’s an incredible spot and a great experience. Every single night I’ve gone there, the sunset was beyond stunning, so it’s definitely not something you want to miss out on.

9) See a Tahitian dance - ote’a

$$-$$$

This is a once-in-a lifetime opportunity to witness the French Polynesians’ indigenous culture and dance. It’s very interesting to see, and all the more fascinating when you take into account that their population is very low and you can’t really see this anywhere else in the world. Their dances are incredibly fascinating and it’s a great experience to not only see, but also learn some of them yourself.

10) Rent a set of Jet Skis

$$$

A jet ski is a great way to cruise around the island, and it’s quite a bit more adventurous and adrenaline filled than the boat or kayak option. No matter how much time you spend there, the sensation of just how clear the water is, is always unbelievably fascinating, and you will definitely be enjoying it. Check out where you can rent them here.
